Business analyzes can also be derived from thisinformation boardif:
- How customers search for your business
- What searches do they use to find your business?
- How they interact with your ad and more.
This information is often easier for small business owners to understand than Google Analytics data.
A profile/listing is the #1 tool that helps balance visibility between large and small businesses.
How do I set up Google My Business and get my business listed on Google?
Note that I recommend setting this up on a desktop or laptop. It will be a lot easier.
If you want to delete an entry: Check out this resource to find out.How to delete your Google My Business listing.
Step 1: Visit the official website
Visit the following page:
https://www.google.com/empresa/or go to google and type "google my business".
This is the first result you see.
click nomanage nowTaste.
If you're not already signed in to a Google account, you'll be prompted to sign in.
Make sure you're signed in to the Google Account you want to associate with your Google business listing.
Definition of your company name
If you have not yet created an entry, you will be prompted to enter your company name after logging in.
Go ahead and write it down.
If someone has already Googled you (which is not uncommon), your listing should show up.
If your company is not listed, click the result that has text under the company name that says:
Create a company with that name
Otherwise, if your business appears (like mine below), go ahead and click on it.
then clicknext.
Determine your business address
Now you can choose between a classic commercial or a service sector. See the Traditional Business vs. Service Sector section for more information.
Set your location
The way you define your location depends on whether your business operates in a store or in a service area.
Hide your address
If you already have a listing and want to hide your address from Google, you can do so in your GMB dashboard's About settings. How to hide your Google My Business address from Google MapsHere.
Define your location as a physical store
if you are a...Brick and Mortar ShopYou must define the location of your business on a map. You may need to drag the marker to the exact spot on the map where your business is located. Simply place your marker where you want it to be on the map and click the "Next" button again.
Define your location as a service area business
If you're a business serving a specific area, you need to tell Google which area you're serving customers in.
monitoring- As of February 2019, it looks like Google still lets you set a radius around your business. I think this is a mistake.
Once you've created your listing, Google will likely let you know that the radius around the business is no longer an option (at least that's what my GMB alerts in Fall 2018 told me).
If Google will make you define your catchment area usingSpecific Territoriesso you might as well do it now.
You can define your service area by city, county, state, zip code, country, etc.
So let's take an example.
Let's say a local electrician services the western Kentucky area.
You could type something like:
- Marshall County, Kentucky
- McCracken County, Kentucky
- Calloway County, Kentucky
- County Graves, Kentucky
...etc.
They can also enter these areas by zip code or even into larger cities within each county if that's what they want to focus their business on.
Advice: If serving an entire county, just enter the county name instead of trying to list all zip codes.
Categorize your business
This step is also very important, so take your time. Take your time and do it right.
When defining your "Categories" you can define bothprimary and secondary categories.
Getting this step right is crucial if you want to appear on the Google results page when potential customers search for a product or service you offer.
Specify which contact details should be displayed to your customers
Adding this information to your Google list is optional, but I'd love toMAXIMUMI recommend.
Adding your website has the obvious benefit of directing potential customers to your website where you can more easily convert them into a lead.
If you include your phone number, customers can contact you directly.
Advice:Every time a visitor visits your website, gets directions, calls you, texts you, etc., you get a small boost in your local Google ranking. from a local search.
monitoring: If you don't have a website, you can select the "I don't need a website" option or the "Get a free website based on your information" option.
If you want more information on how to get a free website if you don't already have one, click View Details during this step.
Make sure that wherever you publish your site on the web (on a Google listing, Yelp, Yellow Pages, local chamber of commerce sites, etc.) you use the exact same URL structure for your site's web.
In other words, if your website is https://yourwebsitename.com, don't list it as https://www.yourwebsitename.com anywhere.
If you don't have www in front of your name, don't put it anywhere like that (and vice versa).
Also make sure to use the same http or https structure before your name in all entries, depending on yours. It is important that your company name, address and website are consistent across all directory listings. A tool like Address is perfect forChecking the consistency of your NAPthrough the web.
Google recommends having a secure website (https) that requires you to have the certificate known as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) installed.
If you don't know what it is or how to do it, ask the website developer or just do itContact us here at Ardent Growth.
After completing this information, press the Next button again.
Complete and verify your company
Don't get too excited. You are not done yet.
You then have to verify your company, which can take a few days. In the meantime you can optimize your listing.
Google may offer another option to verify your business, but most business owners have to wait for Google to send you a postcard with a verification code.
How to verify your Google My Business listing
Depending on the type of business listing you want to create (or manage), you may have a few options to verify your business:
- Check by mail (mail)
- verify by phone
- Check by email
- instant review
- bulk verification
https://www.youtube.com/embed/2sObwsdA1FE
Once your postcard has arrived, you will need to register again.google.com/miempresa, CliqueCheck locationno menu or notCheck nowIf available, enter your 5-digit zip code.
monitoring: Google recommends not editing your business name, address, category, or requesting a new code while waiting for your confirmation postcard.
This can become a nightmare for you (requiring a few calls to Google customer support).
And that's it. You know you've got your list fully set up.
Now it's time to tweak it (if you haven't already) so you can leverage the value it can bring to your business.
How to optimize your Google My Business listing
Search results show businesses related to your location.
Appearing at the top of a Google search is like gold. But you know that, right?
One26% of all clicks go to the first result in the list.(without ads) if there is no featured snippet. else about8.6% of clicks go to featured snippetsand 19.6% goes to the first organic result.
Regardless of whether you were able to verify your business or not, you can still optimize your Google My Business listing.
Creating your listing is like the foundation and structure of a house, it needs to be in place. Optimizing it is like making sure the roof is tight and the insulation works well. With this in mind, you should ensure that you follow the Google My Business guidelines for how you are represented on Google.

When someone searches for a service or product that Google thinks could be offered by a local business,Search Engine Results Page (SERP)is changed to include local results.
Be happy. This is where Google searches for local businesses.
For example, if you search for "plumber," you'll likely see something like this:
appear in it3 packs(also known aslocal package) is your chance to shine as a local business.
It's a way to beat all those directory services trying to grab a customer's attention.
There are a number of factors that affect your Local Pack ranking and no one knows for sure. We've learned some best practices through direct advice from Google and our own experimentation and testing.
Let us begin.
Optimization of your information area
On the left side of your dashboard you will see an option calledInformation, Clique.
Add as much information as possible to your information field. The more complete it is, the better!

- phone number
- Website address (if applicable)
- Citation URL (if applicable)
- Services you offer
- business description
- The date you first opened your business
- Photos
To edit a section, just click on the pencil icon for that section.
monitoring: Anyone can edit your ad. Therefore, please provide as much information as possible. This will prevent someone from accidentally adding the wrong information to your listing.
Also, check your business listing regularly to make sure everything is correct.
Advanced tip for tracking Google My Business organic traffic in Google Analytics
One problem with tracking organic traffic in Google Analytics is that you can't easily tell if the traffic is coming from your Map Pack listing or regular organic results.
You can solve this by adding UTM parameters to your website URL in your Google My Business dashboard.
Add the following to the end of your URL:
?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=list&utm_campaign=local
Now, when you check your analytics in the future, you can see what traffic is coming from your GMB listing.
Brick and Mortar vs. Service Area Business (SAB)

we have one tooSearch listing for Google My Business categoriesif you want to see an up-to-date list of available categories.
If you see a trend in all of them, you can probably assume that this is the right category.
In the example above we can see that most construction companies in the Murray area have been classified as some type of contractor.
Feel free to be specific if you primarily offer one type of service.
The service editor
In the service area you can add additional content to your entry. They are helpful to users, but they don't help you.Ranking for additional keywordsfrom an SEO point of view.
Google My Business automatically suggests some services, but you can also create custom services.
As of October 2020, the services will not yet appear for desktop searches, but will for some mobile searches.
How to optimize the service area
- Click Servicesin the left navigation of the GMB dashboard

Indicator.
Click the edit icon

How do Google My Business attributes help my business?
Adding attributes to a Google My Business listing allows the business to appear in additional, more refined searches. For example, if a person is short on cash and only has one card, they may want to know what payment options are available.
Or maybe you have a small B&B and want to let potential searchers know you have WIFI; this is an attribute you can add.
Restaurants also have several options that can be added (see below). Regardless of the type of business you run, be sure to fill it out completely and encourage people you know to answer questions about your business to highlight the highlights as well.
business descriptions
That's pretty easy. Make it sound natural and human. Don't try keywords. Google is smarter than that, and let's face it, it looks weird.
Example of a good company description
additional options

When customers see you interacting with the people who post on your listing, they're much more likely to say something, too.

⚠️ Don't go to war with someone just because they gave you a bad rating online.

While it may seem unfair or scary to put your company's reputation in the hands of consumers, the truth is, it always has been. It's clearer now. Don't live in fear of comments. Google My Business-Messaging
Once your business listing has been verified, you can turn on messaging.
Messaging is a powerful tool to use, especially if you're trying to attract a younger audience to your business.
I think we all know that the younger generation spends more time looking at their smartphones than talking to them.
Enabling messaging allows a customer to text youwithout them knowing what your mobile number really is (assuming it's different from the one on your list).
If you don't want to receive text messages from your mobile number, you can download third-party applications or even the official one.Google Voiceapp and let them send text messages to this app.
You'll never notice the difference, and you can usually limit the times an app sends you notifications by adjusting the app's settings on your phone.
Don't underestimate how many leads you could lose if you don't enable this option. It's not uncommon for a person under the age of 35 never to become a leader simply becauseI don't like making phone calls.
To enable messaging for GMB:
- On the dashboard, clickMessageson the left.
- Click Activate
Google provides full guidelinesto be followed by business owners using the messaging feature.
Once enabled, mobile users will see the option to send a message.
Can I manage GMB messages from my desktop computer?
Update for June 2020:Now it is possible to manage your messages from your desktop computer (also on laptops). Google has allowed prospects to send business messages from Google Maps and Google Search as long as they have set up Google My Business.
The downside was that you had to use your GMB app to message people as there was no way to do it from a computer.
This was pretty frustrating for franchise owners and busy businesses who just couldn't keep up with things on their phones.
We're excited to announce that Google has now partnered with multiple customer service solutions so you can communicate with customers on the same platform they're used to.
You will find a list ofPartners available here.
Google My Business Posts
Think of GMB posts, which are similar to Facebook posts.
Google offers another way to provide potential customers with information about your business. Keep things active on Google and stick to an omnichannel marketing approach.
Google My Business posts can contain text, photos, and videos.

What are the welcome offers in Google My Business?
In June 2019, GMB released a new feature calledwelcome offers.
It's no surprise that most online shoppers are looking for a deal (which is why most of them shop online in the first place).
Businesses can now encourage customers to do thisconsequenceswith youwelcome offersfor this
A small blue tick icon is attached in the top right corner of theconsequencesbutton in your listing.
However, I would not trust most people to realize this until it is more commonly known. So in the meantime, create an attractive offer and promote it on social media and in your GMB posts.
Think carefully here and remember that the initial goal is to attract followers so that you appear in theirsFor hercard guide.
product catalogue
You can also display your product and product categories on your listing.
You can add new categories and products from the Posts section of your Google My Business account or from the dashboard by clicking Products in the left navigation.
This feature works especially well for brick-and-mortar businesses that sell branded retail items that they want to promote.
Short names and URLs
You can also add a nickname to your profile. This will give you a link to your most prominent GMB listing.
You can use this to promote your listing and provide customers with an easy link to leave a review.
You can define your nickname list by accessing the information panel of the GMB control panel.
You'll see the setup location just below the setup your phone number section.
While no announcements have been made, Google has confirmed that there is an ongoing bug with Google My Business short names that could result in your listing being banned.#seo #googlemybiz #gmb pic.twitter.com/M5GN1vYTru
